020. A Question for Writers.

I want to know what y'all call people's parts when you're writing smut. Do you love the word cock but hate the word dick? Love using 'balls' but refuse to use 'nuts'? I want to know everything. Are there certain words that offend you?

You get the idea.

Discuss.

I use either cock or dick (sometimes length, arousal, other euphemisms, but not the crappy ones), depending on the character and the mood they're in. "Nuts" just sounds very juvenile to me, so I don't use that and just refer to testicles as balls.

This is my issue with writing het, though. I don't like the slang for female genitals.

Oh yeah, I'd never use any of those ridiculous "weiner" or "man stick" or anything like that, haha. I was, however, curious about the nuts/testicles/balls thing. I thought testicles sounded too medical, so ended up using balls instead. :/

Ahaha, me too. I have troubles with that, too, but generally end up using pussy for that.

Yeah, because "Suck my schlong" really sounds awesome, LOL.

I also just have problems writing female characters in general, which is odd, considering that I am female.

Ahahaha! Oh man, I remember the first time I heard the word "schlong." I thought it was a new kind of clothing item or something. LOL

I have that problem sometimes, too. Admittedly, my bigger problem is writing male anatomy stuffs since I'm a female, too, but that's why I ask questions. :) Thanks for answering, by the way!

My mom and I make fun of the euphemisms, LOL.

I'm weird... I have no problem writing male stuff, but females are just so hard for me. I'm fascinated by the human body, I just can't write het sex unless I gloss over it for some reason. Or if I write anal.

No problem :D

My friends and I do, too. Good times :D

I'm currently writing a novel story where Claire's getting anal for the first time. It's...Ridiculously long. I'm too wordy, haha.

It's fun reading passages from trashy romance novels out loud :D

Heh, I just hit 35k on a book I'm working on, so I know how you feel :) I actually very rarely touch Claire when it comes to fic. She annoys me.

[identity profile] ofthesounds.livejournal.com 2009-03-21 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, yeah, you totally have me mega-beat. I've got 2,936 words right now and they're just getting to the actual sex part now.

She annoys me a lot, too, but I like writing her because I can pretty much just do anything to her and y'know, she won't die. Haha.

Well, it's an actual book. I've kinda got an erotica publishing deal :D The main characters have been screwing since the second chapter, since one of them's a hooker.

I just can't stand Claire. I had her peg Peter, but that's all I'll do.

[identity profile] ofthesounds.livejournal.com 2009-03-21 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh! Will there be a big announcement when the book is out so we can go out and buy it?

[identity profile] pupnamedpeter.livejournal.com 2009-03-21 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Probably not in the journal I'm posting from, but in my pseudonym one. It's posted online for right now, but it's going to be taken down as soon as I'm done writing it so that it can be published. :) Thanks for asking!

Cock, dick, prick, shaft, length... I think I used manhood once or twice.

The real short of it is: whatever fits for the character. If I'm writing a brit, I'll tend to use prick and bollocks more often than I do with others.
